He is a West Indian international cricket player. He has a best Test batting rankings on many occasions and hold quite a lot of cricket records, as well as the record for the highest creature score in first-class cricket, with 501 not out for Warwickshire against Durham at Edgbaston in 1994, The BBC radio commentary on the final day of the innings (6 June 1994), by Dave Roberts, was being transmit around the world live via the BBC World Service network. Lara is the father of a girl called Sydney (born 1996). His father died in 1989 of a heart attack and his mother died in 2002 of cancer. Lara has close ties with Trinidadian business mogul Wayne Armogan, who is the son of late Trinidadian Lester Armogan.
